I grew up on the salt marshes of Jamaica Bay, and without the marsh down the street from me I wonder how much more detrimental the flooding from Hurricane Sandy would've been in my area. Many houses, including mine, were safe from the floods because of the salt marshes. Happy to do my part in my new home!
