"Four large pieces of what appears to be portions of the Pawleys Island pier are visible in the ocean out beyond the surf. They floated down from the north as Hurricane Ian arrived. They appear to be trapped in the ocean floor sand and become invisible during high tide. We are very concerned that boaters who often pass by are going to hit them, unable to see them especially at high tide, or that they will dislodge unexpectedly and harm swimmers."
