Abandoned Boat Report
Beaufort, SC
"Home Port: Temperance, MI. Not listed in USCG documented vessel database. Ja-C-Jo was abandoned at anchor on Lucy Creek, off Lady's Island, SC, on or about June 23, 2018. This spot on Lucy Creek has become a dumping ground for large vessels, probably because this is a prime protected location for mooring large vessels in a hurricane, now rendered unsafe because of the risk of these large derelicts drifting in a storm. Ja-C-Jo is hard aground, damaging the marsh and oyster beds. Mutual Fun III drifted back and forth on Lucy Creek, repeatedly grounding on oyster beds and marsh on either side of the Creek and colliding with docks for two years until it collided with a dock and sank within about 200 yards of Ja-C-Jo. Yahbudi II has sat unattended at anchor between the two derelict boats since hurricane Matthew in 2016. These other two vessels have been reported elsewhere on this database."
