Specific Impacts:

  • Damaged sand fencing
  • Eroded beach
  • Eroded dune
  • Eroded bank/bluff
  • Overwashed beach/dune

Comments: High winds and surf have impacted shorelines along the north and east sides of Chatham. Impacts are relatively minor given the severity of the storm due to low astronomical tides. Fish Pier tide gauge indicated a 3 ft storm surge at the early morning high tide but astronomical tide was quite low greatly reducing the potential for more damage/impacts. Several overwashes observed along low lying portions of the outer barrier beach of North Beach Island which is expected.
