Large Marine Debris Report by Carl Ullman
Anacortes, WA
"First, thanks for your work. Here’s a very worthy project: On the west shore of Guemes Island, Washington, between Indian Village and Clark Point there is a very large pyramid shaped (I’m guessing 4 feet high and 3 feet wide at the bottom) Styrofoam-and-rock fragment of some sort of larger structure. The structure appears to have broken up and left pieces here, and another on the north shore of Guemes (which has been removed). It is exactly the sort of thing that will shed little Styrofoam nodules for a long time, eventually shedding its entire self into the Salish Sea. It is readily accessible from Bellingham Channel and could be removed with a small or medium-sized tractor and a beach landing boat. It really needs to get done and is just a bit too big a project for the local do-gooders like myself. A one-day project with great benefit which, if neglected, will . . . I don’t like to think about it. Please put it on you soon-to-do list. Thanks again."

This is a great report, Carl. Thank you. We will surely get that cleaned up early this summer.
