    Thanks for including such a helpful and descriptive comment with your report, Kathryn! We only ask for measurements from 10 randomly subsampled dungeness molts as a means of streamlining data collection, but the additional measurements you’ve included will likely be a welcome bonus for our partnering Dungeness researchers, so never a waste! That said, we only pass along reports submitted as “timed surveys”, which is used for searches that follow the standard 20 minutes of total effort, as detailed in the protocols available here: https://wsg.washington.edu/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/Molt-Search-Protocol-1.pdf. If you did search for the full time on this one, let me know and I can easily edit that option from our end. We include “opportunistic observation” as an option in the app for folks who stumble upon species of interest but don’t have time or interest in completing a true survey, which can be helpful for other uses, too.
