Hi William, Thanks for keeping an eye out for molts on your last shorewalk! European green crab arrived as far south as Cultus Bay just last year, so keeping your eye out for signs of them in the Clinton area is a huge help to managers (and researchers)! You can learn more about green crab, identification, and even sign up for a hands-on training to get practice on the protocols for the “timed survey” (vs. the opportunistic observations like you’ve submitted, which we also appreciate) at our website: wsg.washington.edu/moltsearch. Or feel free to reach out directly to connect more: crabteam@uw.edu. Hope it was a nice time on the shore!
