    Hi Theresa, thanks for your molt search report and apologies on not getting back to you sooner on ID. The crab from this report is a purple shore crab (Hemigrapsus nudus). While this crab does have darker colored claws and legs, it lacks the black melanated claw tips of the black clawed crab. Shore crabs also have a square shaped carapace compared to the more pentagonal carapace of the black clawed crab. Happy Molt Searching!
