Normandy Park, WA

King County

Type: Downed piling

Photo from: Shore

Piling length: 1-5'

Number of pilings: 4

Debris source: Oily creosote-soaked pilings buried long ago are now emerging from the sand just to the left as you walk onto the beach at low tide at Des Moines Beach Park. There are 3 or 4 pilings emerging from the sand; there may be many more still buried. A local couple removed one, but the rest are larger and too heavy. They are most likely part of the old sea wall and were left there when it was demolished. They are at least 10 by 10 inches square and of unknown length.

Ownership: Unknown, near Des Moines Beach Park
