    Hi John, Thanks for your report and welcome to Molt Searching! Good intuition about the ocean side of the peninsula looking very different than the East side’s established green crab populations. Molt Search protocols were developed specifically to develop a dataset for early detection on Salish Sea shorelines, where green crab haven’t yet been found in large numbers like they have on the coast, but it’s definitely an interesting tool even there on Long Beach to test how different those two sides of the peninsula are in terms of green crab habitat and abundance.
