Beach

State: Accessible

Natural Resources

Specific Impacts:

  • Eroded beach
  • Eroded dune
  • Overwashed beach/dune

Comments: Overwash #2 east of #1 and boardwalk has widened and another over wash formed between #1 and 2. Much of the dune system along Town Neck Beach east of boardwalk has been eroded away, and those dunes that remain have lost much of their elevation, width, and vegetation. Material from beach, that placed by town, and material eroded from dunes, have migrated into Mill Creek. Conditions appear to exist where a breach could possibly form on next high tide if winds and sea state remain high from the N-NE.
