As American Tourister, the parking lot used to be subject to flooding during extreme tides, but this photo shows that the grade was greatly increased during redevelopment of the property in order to deal with sea level rise. A narrow strip of beach is visible at the base of the seawall. Note that despite the proximity to the high tide time showing on this page, there was still a strong tidal current heading upstream."
